Large-Diameter Reinforced PE Pressure Pipe
Steel-wire-reinforced, spiral-wound composite construction
Large-Diameter Reinforced PE Pressure Pipe is a steel-wire-reinforced polyethylene pressure pipe made by spiral winding. Shunfang uses this construction for pressure mains of 2.6 m diameter and above. Diameter, pressure class and jointing are confirmed for each project.

Construction and manufacturing
- Extrude a PE strip with high-strength steel wire embedded.
- Wind the strip spirally and heat-bond adjacent windings.
- Add an outer PE protective layer.

Materials
- Carbon spring-steel wire sits between PE layers; tensile strength about 2000 MPa, elastic modulus about 200 GPa.
- The wire is copper-plated and PE-wrapped to resist delamination.

Applications
- Raw Water TransmissionReservoir and river source lines to the treatment plant
- Municipal Water SupplyUrban trunk mains and regional supply schemes
- Industrial & Cooling Water SupplyProcess and cooling water for plants and industrial parks
Features and benefits
- Spiral winding sets the diameter; sizes are published up to DN5000.
- High-strength steel wire, about 2000 MPa, between PE layers.
- Five jointing routes chosen by diameter.
- On-site production can be assessed above 3 m.
Jointing and installation

Double-seal socket
No power needed; allows small longitudinal movement.

Electrofusion band
For DN1000 and above; banded along the rib groove, clamped and fused.

PE-end butt fusion
Prepared PE joint ends are butt-fused on site.

Electrofusion sleeve
A PE sleeve with embedded heating wire joins the two pipe ends.

Double-seal sleeve
A compressed sleeve with two sealing rings provides dual sealing.
On-site production
For pipe above 3 m in diameter, moving production equipment to the project site can be assessed when transport is the constraint.

Frequently asked questions
When is a spiral-wound reinforced PE pressure pipe needed?
For pressure pipe of 2.6 m diameter and above.
What pressure classes are available at these diameters?
The published table gives 0.4–1.0 MPa for DN2800–DN3600 and 0.4–0.8 MPa for DN4000–DN5000. Other combinations are confirmed by project review.
How does it differ from Steel Wire Reinforced PE Composite Pipe?
This pipe is formed by spiral winding and is used from 2.6 m upward. Steel Wire Reinforced PE Composite Pipe is extruded and covers diameters up to DN1600.
How are such large pipes joined?
By double-seal socket, electrofusion band, PE-end butt fusion, electrofusion sleeve or double-seal sleeve, chosen by diameter and site conditions.
Can it be produced at the project site?
Yes. For pipe above 3 m, on-site production can be assessed when transport is the constraint.
What information do you need for a project review?
Diameter, design and operating pressure, medium and temperature, line length, connection preference, standard, destination, delivery date, route constraints and site access.
